CAROLINA REAPERS

Carolina Reaper was created in 2013 by Ed Currie, who runs a pepper company in the town of York, South Carolina. After seven generations of crossing Bhut Jolokia and Red Habanero, Carolina Reaper, which boasts 440 times the amount of jalapenos, was born. Carolina Reaper was recognized by Guinness World Records in August 2017 as the world's hottest pepper. While other peppers have emerged that are considered even hotter, such as Pepper X and Dragon Breath developed by Ed Currie, it is still recognized as a Guinness World Record (as of July 2021).
